This post is inspired by an email that I got from a subbie who asked me what I thought about online paid survey sites.

Truthfully I am not a fan of survey sites. I tried them in the past to make money and whilst I made some money, I did not make a lot of money.

More or less, the best paid survey sites are a way for you to make extra pocket cash for little things that you have to do right now.

Before I dive into my list I want to cover a few things that you should know about survey sites that you should look out for. 

Sign up for as many paid survey sites as you can

The reason why you want to do this is because in my experience, more than likely you will only qualify for a few surveys that you match exactly based on the survey’s criteria.

Therefore you want to sign up for as many survey sites as possible so you have a better chance at qualifying to a good few of them.

It is unlikely that you will be able to participate in all, but joining many survey sites improves your chances of making a decent amount of money.

Make sure that the online survey site is legitimate

Taking surveys can be fun and a great way to pass time however you do not want to sign up to every single survey site you see because not all of them may be legit.

Here are a few things to look out for when deciding to complete a survey:

More Than Just A Name And Email

The best paid survey sites which are legitimate usually ask for more than just your name and email address. Some go on to ask for your gender, your home address, your contact number, your date of birth, your marital status. When survey sites are very specific and ask for this information, it usually means that they are already matching you to relevant surveys so this is completely normal. Be aware of scam sites by paying extra attention to how much information they need.

An About Us Page

This does not only apply to survey sites but also to any website. Most legitimate websites have a page on their website called the About Us page which informs their visitors who they are. A website that does not have this page is usually an untrustworthy site so be careful about that.

Legal Disclaimers

Two of the most important legal disclaimers to look out for are private policies and terms of service or terms and conditions. A website that does not have its privacy policy or terms of service or conditions for you to see are probably scam websites.

A privacy policy tells you how your information is stored and used. It also tells you where to send a complaint if you have one about the website.

The terms of service or conditions tells you your relationship with the survey website so if there is something that you do not agree to, you can always abandon the site.

Usually the privacy policy and terms of service or condition are found to the bottom of the website. If these are not present on the website then it is probably a scam website.

Promises That Are Just Too Good To Be True

Survey sites are not huge money makers. So any survey site which promises that you can earn up to $100 a day is probably a scam. So be careful of those that make these outlandish promises.

It is reasonable for most survey sites to offer $5 to $10 to complete a survey although we have seen some paid survey sites offering as much as $75 per survey like Cashback Research.

A true survey site is genuinely interested in your answers to help them understand how the population responds to a certain product or service. So they are prepared to make reasonable rewards to you for your time.

If there is any doubt in your mind about the survey site that you are on, you are free to leave it but never provide your information where there is doubt. Another precaution you can use include setting up a new email account and testing the survey site to see what’s on the other side of the page.
