To succeed in network marketing, is really based on who you know and how big your network is.

To translate this into simple terms, you need a large enough audience to speak to and present your offer.

Even if you do not have a large network you can become a success with network marketing but it takes a few smart choices to make that work.

What I want to show you in this blog post, is how you can ultimately succeed in network marketing by following a few simple steps.

The problem with most network marketers, especially those who are beginning in network marketing, is that they do not follow a proven system.

They are told to talk to any and everyone about their product or opportunity and hope that someone says yes.

In fact, in my view, this is a recipe for disaster and frankly a waste of time because there are some people who will never buy what you are selling because they are simply not interested in what you are selling.

They are NOT part of your target audience.

Let’s put this into perspective.

You could have the best tasting chocolate chip cookies. It’s moist, gooey with the biggest pieces of chocolate chunks you have ever seen.

But try and sell them to vanilla lovers. No one’s going to buy because they simply don’t like chocolate.

And the model that today’s network marketing leaders teach about every person being a prospect, is the worst advice that you can give because you simply cannot sell a product to people who do not want it.

So here is where this guide comes in, to show you how to prospect and recruit easily so you can grow your network marketing business faster.

If you follow these steps correctly you will position yourself as the go-to network marketer. Others will see you as an authority and you can even become the consultant that answers to your prospects specific problems.

So without further ado, let’s get started.

The Tools You Will Need For Prospecting And Recruiting

This is the part that cannot be missed.

But sadly it is the part that is either ignored or forgotten and sometimes not intentionally only because most network marketers are uninformed.

So I am here to inform you.

Lead Capture Page

This is what you will need to attract prospects to your business. Traditionally network marketers attend beauty events, launch parties or go to the malls and talk to any and everyone whose eye they meet.

Typically their prospecting goes something like this – they introduce the business, hand out a flyer and ask the question “is this something that you might be interested in”.

That question can receive an answer that goes one of two ways. Either yes and the prospect hangs on for more information or no and the prospect dismisses them and walks away.

And from my experience nine times out of ten, it is a no.

The lead capture page makes this entire scenario easier by introducing people to your product or service and capturing only those people who are interested in your offer (I will speak more about this later).

You can use many different lead capture page builders like Clickfunnels, GetResponse or LeadPages.

Clickfunnels is a paid software that helps you build lead capture pages. They offer a 14-day free trial and then their price starts from $97/month.

If Clickfunnels is too pricey, then you may wish to consider LeadPages as an alternative.

Email Autoresponder

Once you have started filtering out the ones who are not interested from the ones who are interested it is time to start following up with your prospects.

As a marketer it is ingrained in us, that the fortune is in the follow up.

Statistics say that it takes someone at least seven to eight times to see an offer before they commit to buy.

Traditionally network marketers receive a prospect’s contact number or may have added them on Facebook.

Usually they would follow up with their prospects by giving them a call that goes something like this,

Hey Susan, I am just checking whether you are still interested in my [product or offer] and can I help you get started today?

If they’re not up for calling the prospect, they may send them a text message or a private message on social media.

Either way it is likely that you will be ignored or you may not receive a commitment to purchase your product or buy from you.

This is typically what happens to most network marketers.

So what do you do? You schedule a further followup with Susan about two weeks later and repeat the same process.

I don’t know about you but when I was a network marketer, I suffered from rejection syndrome. I absolutely hated it and this made me dread following up with my prospects.

With a marketing tool known as an email autoresponder you can eliminate this fear of rejection as the autoresponder will do all the following up for you on your behalf.

So there’s no more rejection, no more chasing or speaking to prospects. That is covered by your autoresponder.

This is how it works:

As you can see from the above image, I have scheduled five days’ worth of emails to be sent to my prospects. In each of those emails I am educating them, nurturing them and preparing them for my offer or product.

So essentially the autoresponder talks for me and provides more information about my product so that the prospect is pre-framed about whether the offer solves their problem.

And well if they are no longer interested, they can simply unsubscribe at any time.

So I never have to see that they have ignored me and I never have to see that they have blocked me. That’s all well and good in my eyes and I can continue finding more people to talk to by email and not get discouraged.

Other options for you are GetResponse or MailChimp.

Those are the two basic tools that you need. There are other tools that you can fit into your business to streamline everything but they are not absolutely essential.

How To Identify Your Target Market

Now that you have your tools set up it is important that you know who your audience is.

Who will your product serve and who is your ideal client.

Let’s say you are a part of a weight loss network marketing business and you are promoting a product that will help you lose weight in two weeks.

Start by writing a list of every type of person who you think this will appeal to. What comes to mind are:

  • Women who are soon-to-be brides
  • Men who are soon-to-be grooms
  • Women who have just had a baby and wants to lose their baby weight
  • Women who need to lose weight for health reasons
  • Men who need to lose weight for health reasons
  • Women who are embarking on a vacation
  • Men who are embarking on a vacation
  • Women who like to keep fit
  • Men who like to keep fit

Why do you want to target these people?

Well they have a problem (weight) and they need a solution (to lose it) which you can help solve with your product or service.

The same can be done for your business opportunity. If you want to recruit consultants into your business repeat the process.

Who is your target market? Who will be a good fit for this type of opportunity?

  • Low paid employees
  • High paid but overworked employees
  • Stay at home moms and dads
  • Unemployed persons
  • Job seekers
  • College/university students
  • Business opportunity seekers

Why do you want to target these people?

They may want to supplement their income to help pay the bills at home. For the overworked employees they may hate their job and want more freedom of time.

Stay at home moms and dads may want to take on a challenge and occupy their time with something that can make them money in their spare time.

Unemployed persons may be looking for a way to earn money from home. Same for the job seekers.

College/University students have massive debt and would love a way to earn extra whilst they study so they can pay off their debt.

Business opportunity seekers are the ideal people because they are looking for what you have to offer.

How To Talk To Your Target Market To Stimulate A Response   

Once you have identified who you are going to speak to, you now need to engage and interact with them.

So far you have learnt how to filter people who are not the right fit for your business by using a lead capture page to only speak to interested people.

You have also learnt how to identify those people who may be interested in your product or service.

Now I am going to show you, how to connect with these people.

The lead capture page will not do the talking by itself, unless you tell it what to say.

So you must give your lead capture page an appropriate headline for your specific product.

The headline is what will catch your audience’s attention. If they believe that your offer can help them solve a problem, then they will ask for more information by providing their contact details to learn more. Let’s see how this can be done automatically.

Here is how to construct a headline   

By using the weight loss example ask yourself what does your ideal customer want to achieve? What is their desired outcome?

Your list might look something like this:

  • A more beautiful appearance
  • Improved Self confidence/self love/self esteem
  • Healthier body
  • To have the energy to play with their kids
  • To feel more attractive to their spouse
  • To be able to look in the mirror without feeling embarrassed
  • To have a better mood

Now considering their desired outcome can you think of some words that your audience use in their daily lives when it comes to weight loss? To answer this question, think of your ideal customer having a conversation with their best friend.

What words are they using?

  • Sexy
  • Heavy
  • Unattractive
  • Diet
  • Hate
  • Love
  • Secure
  • Eat Less

Now let’s put this all together to construct the perfect headline to “talk” to our target customer. The formula that is mostly used by marketers would be the How To headline and goes like this

|How to [desired result] and [other desired result using familiar language] without [pain point]

That can translate into something like this:

|How to lose weight and improve your self confidence without eating less of what you love.

Other headline formulas include the Question Formula:

|Are you tired of giving up what you love to eat to achieve a sexier body? Well you no longer have to.

If you are enticing your ideal customer with a free report on how to lose weight, you might offer them something in exchange for their contact details.

In that case you can use the Shocking Headline Formula

|Learn how [prospect match] lost [desired outcome] without [pain].

An example would be

|Learn how this 300lb woman lost 182lbs within 3 months without giving up junk food.

Do you see how it is done?

Using these formulas you can now speak to your target audience which in turn prompts them to respond to your lead capture page by giving you their contact details.

How To Filter And Speak To Only Those People Who Are Interested In Your Offer

The lesson that I learnt when I started network marketing was that not everyone is going to be interested in my product or offer.

Sometimes, they may be interested but it may not be the right time. They may not have the money to make a purchase immediately or it is not a product or service that they need or feel it would benefit them.

Using our lead capture page, you will now be able to isolate those people who do not need your product or service from those people who believe that your product or service can help them.

This is what a typical lead capture page looks like.

The lead capture page comprises three elements:

  • Image of the product or service that is being offered
  • Ethical bribe to entice the prospect to hand over their contact details
  • Call to action which is a command to the prospect to take the desired action

In the above example when the prospect clicks on the call to action button, that big orange button that screams “GET THE COUPON” they will be prompted with a second page to enter their contact details.

So using the headline formulas mentioned above which goes on your lead capture page, only those people who are remotely interested in your product or service will enter their contact details and proceed to the next round which is your pre-frame.

How To Pre-Frame People Who Are Interested In Your Offer

When your prospect identifies themselves as an ideal prospect, the marketing does not stop there.

Traditionally when the network marketer gets a yes to the question whether the prospect is interested, they will go on to talk about the features and benefits to the prospect.

This concept can be imitated by using what is known as a bridge page in your marketing.

Bridge Page

A bridge page is simply the second page of your marketing sequence and seeks to close the gap between those people who may be interested in your product or service and those who ARE interested in your product or service.

Think of your bridge page as a connector between your introduction to your customer and closing the sale.

The bridge page’s purpose is to warm up your potential customer to the idea of the product or service. Essentially on your bridge page you are going to introduce the product or service, talk about the features, the benefits and how it can help them. Just like you would do in person, but now you will have a marketing tool that does the talking for you.  

Other elements of a bridge page include:

A direct call to action to buy

Sometimes if you never ask for the sale, you will never get the sale. So on a bridge page you can talk to those people who will immediately want your product or service.

Remember that the first time they have entered their contact details on your lead page, already pre-qualifies them for the product or service as they have already said yes.

They have expressed an interest so now you need to lead them in the right direction by asking for the sale.

The guarantee

Can you offer your prospect a guarantee that they will achieve a desired result so there is no risk in purchasing the product? This guarantee could be a company guarantee or a personal guarantee such as 24/7 support within the first 7 days, on-boarding or some additional value.

Proof

Testimonials and reviews of products or results achieved by other users act as social proof that your product or service does what it says. You should be able to show here that other people have achieved the benefit that is outlined on your product or service.

Bonus

Do you have any extra bonuses that you can offer to the prospect? This is where you can mention it as an incentive to buy your product or service now.    

Your bridge page is built by the same software that you use to build your lead capture page.

Remember that you can use one marketing tool – Clickfunnels or LeadPages – to create this automated system.

How To Close The Deal

After the bridge page comes the sales page. Provided you have implemented the steps outlined above your efforts could result in two outcomes.

The prospect goes on to complete the sale or they have been educated about your product or service but are not yet ready to buy.

If your prospect goes on to complete the sale using the buy button on your bridge page, then great. You have closed your first sale using this process.

If not, this is where your email autoresponder comes in.

It will then be up to the messages you write in your email autoresponder to warm up the prospect even more to the point where they do decide to buy your product or service

Here are a few examples of what your follow up messages should look like:

Your day 1 message 

Introduce yourself, who you are and remind them about why they are receiving your message.

Your day 2 message

Introduce the product again and divert the prospect back to your bridge page using a URL link in your email message. Your message can look like this:

Hey [prospect’s name]

Remember I spoke about [your product or service].

I just wanted to remind you about it’s benefits which you can see here [URL to bridge page].

If you have any questions feel free to reply to this email.

Cheers

[Your name]

Your day 4 message

Soft pitch. We have intentionally skipped day 3 as we want to give the prospect room to breathe.

In this email outline the benefits of the product or service and direct the prospect to try the product or service. Your message may sound like this:

Hey [prospect’s name]

One of my customers provided an awesome testimonial of [product or service] and here’s what she had to say:

[Testimonial]

Check out the [product or service] here [URL to sales page] if you might be interested in getting started now.

Cheers

[Your name]

Your day 5 message

Offer additional value to your prospect. Something unrelated to the product or service but relevant to the prospect.

For example, if you are selling a weight loss item you may offer a free report on yoga poses.

If you are promoting a business opportunity, you may offer some tips on how to recruit. Make it valuable to them preparing them for the type of support you can offer.

Your day 6 message 

Hard sale. This is where you ask for the sale outright. Propose the product or service in a way that it is irresistible and has an element of scarcity. For example

Hey [prospect]

Today I decided to do something that I never did before.

I am now offering a free [report, PDF, Ebook] to any person who buys the [product/service] today.

Click this link to buy the [product/service]

I have offered these great examples to you, so you can model after them and try them in your own email autoresponder.

Let me know how it works out.

Pro tip: Use videos in your emails to help build stronger connections so the prospect can see you are a real person. Include images of yourself. BE PERSONABLE.

How To Get More Sales By Duplication

Getting more sales is simply a matter of repeating the above steps over and over to scale your business. The more people that you show your lead capture page to, leveraging advertising platforms like Facebook, Google, YouTube or Bing, the more sales you can get in your business.
